The Lord Mayor of London's common cryer has read out the King's proclamation to the City, announcing the dissolution of Parliament.
Major Peter Oweh, who was appointed last year as the honorary common cryer and serjeant-at-arms, stood at the heart of the financial district in the City of London.
Flanked by a procession from Mansion House, he read the proclamation aloud on the steps of the former Royal Exchange.
His announcement, which you can view in the video, comes as the UK is plunged into a general election frenzy, after Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced the election date of July.
