Virtual health apps have become increasingly popular in the protection market over the past couple of years.
More insurers offer them now than do not.
So, if you’re going to launch a new service it needs to be more than just a ‘me too’.
Aviva recently announced its proposition and has differentiated itself by including a free annual health check.
The test can be taken at home and involves the use of a finger pinprick machine to take the blood sample, which is then returned.
There is also a follow-up digital GP consultation to help the user understand their current health and spot early warning indicators of the conditions tested.
The service is immediately available to all members of Aviva group income protection and group critical illness schemes and applies to members of existing schemes, as well as new ones.
The company has said it will launch a similar service this month for individual critical illness and income protection customers.
That will be well worth looking out for.
