It said exact timings for the release are not yet known and will depend on what happens in the test phase.

A Vanguard spokesperson said: "We have continued to build out the products and services on UKPI to meet the evolving needs of our clients.

"The development of the app follows the recent launch of our Managed Isa and Managed Sipp propositions.

"We also continue to invest on the client service side, including the hiring of a team in our new Manchester office at the end of last year."

According to the firm the platform currently has around 575,000 investors in the UK holding almost £20bn of assets.

In December 2023, Vanguard launched a managed pension on its platform, which joined its managed stocks and shares Isa introduced a year earlier.

The managed pension has a cost of 0.6 per cent a year, broken down into the standard platform fee of 0.15 per cent, capped at a maximum of £375 a year of fund and portfolio management fees.

At the end of last year, Robyn Laidlaw, head of distribution for Europe, told FT Adviser she anticipated a shift towards custom MPS's this year.

She said: “An increasing number of adviser firms are choosing to outsource investments entirely, and catering to the needs of this group will be a key focus for Vanguard.”
